The Museum opened its first permanent exhibition Time of Iron. Mazovian Centre of Metallurgy from the Roman Age in the autumn of 1992. This exhibition presented an overview of the research in prehistoric metallurgy made over the years by the Museum.
The rich display of archaeological artefacts was accompanied by an array of photographic images and drawings illustrating the nature of archaeological research. A significant element of the visual arrangement of the exhibition were large format diorama reconstructions of the prehistoric reality. Thanks to the formula used in designing the exhibition a vivid narrative had been created helping to bring the ancient heritage of Mazovia closer to the general public.
The exhibition design was received favourably by the public as shown by the number of visitors to the Museum, and also won the approval of fellow specialists in museology. In 1993 the exhibition won the 1st prize of the Ministry of Culture and Art as the Museum Event of the Year in the competition Najciekawsze wydarzenie muzealne roku.
The exhibition was available to visitors until May 2011.
